Is Attila Szalai Heading to Chelsea?

Hungary coach, Marco Rossi, believes that Fenerbahce centre-back, Attila Szalai, is well on his way to English Premier League club, Chelsea.

For the past few weeks, rumours have been swirling around that the 23-year-old Hungarian – who signed with Turkey-based Fenerbahce 11 months ago – is being targeted by Chelsea, who have been looking for a central defender to join their ranks.

Spanish and Italian clubs are also said to be aiming for Szalai’s signature.

Speaking to an Italian media outlet on Monday, 6 December, Rossi reckoned that Szalai is heading to Stamford Bridge.

He commented: “I think [Szalai] is joining Chelsea. Clearly, he has been followed by important clubs in Spain, but apparently his move to Chelsea is a done deal. He would be a great player also for Italian football.”

If true, then reports that the Blues would be paying around £20 million for the talented centre-back’s services are also likely to be true.

An official announcement regarding the signing – if any – has yet to be made.
